Level up Your Homeschool Curriculum with BrainPOP Teacher Reports

Homeschooling is a rewarding journey, but it certainly has its challenges. For example: while it can be empowering to be in charge of your child’s learning journey, it can be time-consuming (and daunting!) to plan lessons to fit their unique learning needs.

Thankfully, with BrainPOP’s Teacher Reports, you can see multiple angles of your child’s learning at-a-glance—allowing you to pinpoint where they need a little more help, and making tomorrow’s homeschool lesson planning a breeze.

Make Every Homeschool Lesson Count

Differentiation—or personalizing a lesson to each student’s individual needs—is a key tool in every teacher’s toolkit. It allows you to meet each student where they are, at a level that is challenging (but accessible!) for them. Whether you have one child or three, differentiating their lesson plan will likely be key to their homeschooling success.

On BrainPOP, you can differentiate lessons by assigning your child a unique set of BrainPOP movies and learning activities catered to their grade or skill level. For example, you can decide which grade level they’ll work on for their Quiz or Vocab Builder activities, and which Lexile Level they’ll read on their Leveled Reading activity.

The best part? Since all of the above activities (and more!) are autograded, your child’s scores will funnel directly into your Teacher Reports. For each assignment your child completes, you’ll be able to assess their understanding in two different views: Activity Progress and Assignment Progress.

Let’s dive deeper into what you can learn in each.

Meet the Homeschool Teacher Reports

Assignment Progress

  • Get an overview of the assignment: Understand, at-a-glance, how your child performed on all auto-graded activities within that topic’s assignment. In other words, if you assigned them a Leveled Reading, Vocab Builder, and Quiz activity for the American Revolution topic, you’ll be able to see their overall scores for each of those activities in their own column.

  • Understand where your child needs a little more help: If you notice that they didn’t do as well on the Quiz as they did the other assignments, you may want to cover the content material again tomorrow. Or, if Vocab Builder was their weakest activity, you might want to pay more attention to key terms and vocabulary tomorrow.

  • Reassign activities: Once you’ve reviewed the material with them, you can reassign the assignment directly from the report to see how they’re progressing with their understanding and skills!

Activity Progress

  • Get a narrower look: Activity Progress allows you to see how your child scored on each individual question within an activity. So, if you saw that they struggled with the Quiz in the Assignment Progress view, you can navigate to the Quiz dropdown under Activity Progress to see a breakdown of each question in the quiz, along with their answer to that question.

  • Pinpoint tomorrow’s instruction (even further!): With Activity Progress, you can dive even deeper to understand which areas of a topic—or an activity—students are struggling with, and which they grasp. So, if they got all questions about George Washington correct, but all about Paul Revere incorrect, you’ll know to review Paul Revere in tomorrow’s homeschool lesson.

ELA Standards Performance (coming soon!)

We know that you’re responsible for your children meeting their grade-level expectations. We also know that—to fully understand the grade-level material—students must first be proficient in the cross-curricular ELA skills.

That’s why we’re developing an ELA Standards Performance report for homeschool teachers. In this report, you’ll be able to:

  • View your child’s performance on the literacy skills emphasized in their grade-level state ELA standards

  • Zoom in to see the details of the ELA standard, how your child interacted with it across the assignment, and how they scored

  • Understand the breadth and depth of your child’s learning: see performance on the comprehension skills that will help them understand the content
